How to Wash Foam-Lined Drapes

Curtains, also referred to as curtains, are designed to insulate against warm or cold outdoor air, keeping the room temperature comfortable. Unlike several other types of curtains, some curtains are not meant to be dry cleaned due to the process used to adhere to the foam lining into the drapery fabric. Curtains can be washed by hand or in a machine in cold water; if not able to find a care label on the curtains hands wash.

Hands-On Cleaning

Before washing the curtains, vacuum the cloth side thoroughly to remove cobwebs, dust and some other debris that may have been stuck into them. Part or A roller of packaging tape wrapped sticky-side out removes pet hair. Put the curtains in a bathtub or washtub with water and allow them to soak for a couple of minutes, even if planning to wash them. Add bleach-free laundry detergent for a load of laundry to wash and gently hand wash the curtains, then rinse in water. To machine wash, pick a cycle and use a gentle laundry detergent. Hang the curtains to dry on a line hooks rather dispersing them out broad enough so that the foam backing doesn’t fold back onto itself.
